Since 1970, aerobics has become increasingly popular as hundreds of new aerobic exercise videos are being released each year. This special type of exercise involves rapid stepping patterns that are performed to accompanying music, with an instructor providing the necessary moves and steps. After the 1970 publication of a book written by Dr. Kenneth H. Cooper named "The New Aerobics", the activity known as aerobics grew in popularity and peaked in the 1980s with a lot of celebrities including Jane Fonda and Richard Simmons creating their own videos and television shows to promote this form of exercise.
There are two types of group aerobic exercises. Freestyle aerobics and pre-choreographed aerobics. Freestyle aerobics incorporates a style of aerobic exercise that is linked closely to choreography and dance and is practiced mainly to enhance a person's flexibility. This is usually achieved by teaching the class 1-2 movements at a time and repeating the movements until the class is able to join the whole choreography together. Aerobic music is used throughout the class. This is sometimes followed by a strength section which uses body weight exercises to strengthen muscles and a stretch routine to cool down and improve flexibility. Classes are usually 30-60 minutes in length and may include the use of equipment such as a barbell, aerobic step, or small weights. Most of the participants of this form of aerobic exercise are young female children and women over the age of 35. Pre-choreographed aerobics, on the other hand, is similar to freestyle aerobics, but has a set routine such as that found on a video or television program. |

Blood Pressure

Most adults have had their blood pressure taken by a nurse or doctor on one of their regular checks. Many times, the nurse or doctor comes in to put a blood pressure cuff around the arm. The nurse or doctor then presses a contraption that inflates the cuff before looking at some kind of a dial. Many doctors or nurses do not say a word about the blood pressure if there is no problem. If there is some kind of a problem, the medical professional might just look concerned or they might discuss the problem with the patient.
Many people know that their blood pressure is good or bad, but many people do not know what the blood pressure is. If there is a problem, the doctor might prescribe a medicine and recommend exercise, but many people do not know what the doctor is talking about. If the doctor told them they had a broken leg, they would recognize the problem. If they have a brain tumor, they can visualize what this might look like in their cranial cavity. The people with high blood pressure who get a bad reading when the doctor inflates that cuff often take the medications prescribed by the doctor.
Blood Pressure Is Measured With Two Numbers
Blood pressure is measured in two different numbers when the nurse or doctor puts that cuff on the arm. One measure is called systolic and the other is called diastolic. If these numbers get too high or too low, the medical expert who reads the meter will realize that there is a problem. There are then medications that people can take to get the numbers right. Doctors might also recommend more sleep, a better diet and exercise. Most people are able to control their blood pressure with the help of a vigilant doctor. |

Eczema is a disorder of the skin that is affecting, it is believed, as many as ten to twenty percent of all of the population of the world. When it occurs, it causes the skin to turn red and become itchy and it also causes the skin to become flaky.
The reason why it occurs is because the skin becomes inflamed due to irritants present in the environment or because of other physical conditions. In fact, eczema can strike each and every one of us, though those with a prior family history of it will be more likely to suffer from this disease than others.
No Cure
At present, the cure for eczema eludes mankind though the condition can be treated so that immediate relief is forthcoming. The main function of the skin of course is to prevent infections and disease from affecting us. Although, when such capabilities become compromised due to oversensitive irritants (external) or triggers as they are also referred to as, then a reaction that then turns into eczema results.
Eczema is also known to affect infants as well as children and of course adults too can be affected by this kind of skin condition. However, in the case of infants, the disease is noticed on their cheeks, forehead as well as forearms, neck, scalp and even on the legs. In other cases, there will be patches that will turn red in color and which will itch a lot as well and these patches are known to develop on the neck, face, inside of one's elbows, ankles as well as on the knees. |
